Phil Renshaw

After 20 years as a classic finance guy (yes, his childhood ambition was to be a banker!), Phil finally realised that it wasn’t all about the money – it’s all about the people! Those ‘numbers’ only get you so far.

Phil was a successful international banker for nearly ten years and fortunate enough to live and work in London, New York and Sydney. Thereafter, he joined EDS (a global IT outsourcer) where he continued his finance career, leading the EMEA Treasury/Corporate Finance teams and then onto Finance Director positions in the UK.

In the midst of all that success, his first epiphany was that he didn’t want to be an FD. And his second epiphany was that he did want to work with developing people. With such a strong commercial background this gave a fascinating and unusual perspective to learn and help others develop their leadership skills. It was a natural choice to become a coach, accredited through the ICF.

Phil recently published Coaching On-the-Go. A book for everyone in business showing them how to learn coaching skills to support their own leadership choices.

Phil also works in the education sector having taught finance and leadership at several universities. He is currently completing a PhD at Cranfield University where he researches the value of international assignments. He has published extensively.
